Al final de la carrera.

Madre mía, hemos estado dos días sin internet y parece que te falta algo. No puedes llamar a la familia, ver las noticias, actulizar el blog...jejeje

Cambiamos una carrera de lista. Los "30 Kilometros del Winter Circuit de Ogden" ayer dejó de ser un "proyecto" para pasar a ser una "carrera hecha". Amaneció un día soleado. Me vestí de veranito y me planté en el lago de Ogden con mis pantaloncitos cortos, a 31º F (-1º C). A correr rápido que pelaba de frío. Una distancia nueva para mi. 30 Km en 2 horas 20 minutos, a 4:41 el kilómetros. 8º en mi categoría y 27º en la General. Os dejo unas fotillos para que veáis donde era la carrera.


También fuimos a la NASCAR. Estos americnos te dejan entrar en el paddock, tocar los coches, ver a los pilotos... La verdad es que es un mundo bastante desconocido para mi. Se nota que mueven dinerito por allí.

Empieza el domingo. Parece que va a ser un día especial. Tres golitos de Torres, algo está cambiando.

NO CESA LA AVENTURA...

Cada día en Layton se vive al cien por cien. Hoy me ha dado tiempo ha sacar unas entradas para el Nascar, a perder muy dignamente con el NDPA Soccer team en mi rol de coach, a ir a la gala de los premios "Apple for the Year 2012", a ver como se me vuelve a poner la carne de gallina con el himno americano y el respeto que irradian hacia su país y su bandera, y a apuntarme a una carrera de 30 kilómetros para este fin de semana.

Aquí todos los eventos suelen ser en sábado. El domingo todo buen mormón pasa el día o gran parte de él en la iglesia. Por este motivo, estoy disfrutando de la buena costumbre de recuperar los domingos.. cosa que se agradece.

Como decía, este sábado voy a por los 30 K del Winter Circuit de Ogden (http://www.stridersrunning.com/). Esta carrera se corre por un paraje maravilloso, a casi 2000 metros de altura, cosa que se nota bastante. La idea es tomársela como preparación para el marathon de Ogden, que será el 19 de mayo. Hace unos años apareció en una sonada revista como uno de los mas atractivos de Estados Unidos. Por este motivo, las inscripciones vuelan. (http://www.getoutandlive.org/ogden-marathon) Yo corro con el dorsal de Dani, cuyo gemelo pasaba de darse tal paliza.

Cuando acabe la carrera me tomaré la hamburguesa de rigor en el "Shooting Saloon". Os dejo un artículo del mítico Hilo que os llevará a ese peculiar lugar..

La siguiente idea es una locura bien buena. Cinco etapas, en seis días, hasta un total del 250 km corriendo por el desierto, desde Grand Junction a Moab. Si habéis visto la película de "127 horas", por esa zona tiene lugar la aventura. Eso si, espero acabar mejor que aquel...

APPLE AWARDS



I have to be honest. I really like it. We (Esther and me) have been nominated to the "2012 Apple for the teacher". It´s been a year full of things, good and not so good. We even thought about going back in November. We didn´t want to feel like that. August and September were really hard. The kids and I didn´t understand each other, and not because of the language difference.They did not follow rules,and the schedule didn´t help either. I didn´t have the skills to engage them. Ufff..now, it´s totally different. They are really kind and charming. They enjoy in class and now I feel like I can make them work, play and learn. It´s not perfect but it´s better in some way.  I  do enjoy teaching. I feel like they are learning. I appreciate all the help that I had from many people that have been close to me in these moments (Mikele, Malaguitas, Megan, Tiffany, Cristina, la Jefa...). Now, we have to decide what to do, if we want to stay or not. Tough decission.

CARA Y CRUZ...

Ayer era el tío más feliz del mundo con mi equipo de fútbol 11, sí, he dicho 11. Hoy la moneda cambia de cara. Debe ser la inatividad como entrenador la que me ha llevado a vivirlo tan a fondo, como si fuera un novato. Un equipo que tiene unos "tryouts", donde seleccionas a los chicos y chicas que quiere para quedarte con lo mejor (telita), en un país donde el fútbol está lejos de ser el deporte rey, haciendo una pretemporada de cinco entrenamientos (la nieve hace estragos), hablando con la mayoría en inglés (eso de toca, pisa, aparece..no sé como se dice, la verdad) ... Un popurrí alucinante. Un proyecto muy atractivo, sorprendente.. Vamos, que hoy  (segundo de los 3 partidos que jugamos esta semana) hemos salido a pasear por el campo y cuando nos hemos dado cuenta íbamos 3 a 0. Al final, charlita en inglés en el descanso, vete tú a saber lo que han entendido de lo que yo les quería decir...la verdad es que aunque solo fuera por la cara, en la segunda parte han cambiado bastante...

Se me vuelve a plantear una duda que siempre he tenido como entrenador al trabajar con chicos de 12 a 14 años. ¿qué objetivo tenemos en realidad? ¿Ganar? ¿Enganchar? ¿Me lo paso bien si gano? ¿Juegan todos y que sea lo que Dios quiera? ¿Unos se parten la cara y otros paséan por el campo?

Una evidencia...esta gente está flipando con los personajes que tienen por entrenadores.

Mañana otro partido. Seguiremos informando.

GAME DAY

Wow...welcome back,

Today it´s been one of these days that you leave home in the morning and you go back close to midnight. One of these days that you don´t have  time to relax. One of those days that you are running all day and living many things. But it  is a new and a special day for many reasons. The NDPA Soccer team is growing up fast. We have won two in a row. We are on fire, discovering new posibilities. We won our first game away and we are doing great. We have the chance to be in the Play-offs.

One more game today...and good news. Utah Jazz is in the play offs. We beat Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns to qualify to the Play offs against San Antonio Spurs. We will see Ginobili, Toni Parker, Tim Duncan... Sounds good, and hard.

My mind better than my body...

It´s been really hard today. I felt this kind of feelings that you have when you are close to finish a long race. I did 10 miles, around 16 km, but I am absolutely exhausted. I can be all day thinking about my races. It´s one of thoes moments that I think I can run everything...but today I did suffer. I was blogging yesterday and I didn´t rest. The evening was too hot. I didn´t have water...I have been too many times at the restroom today... result... 1 hour and 15 minutes running bad...controlling my bad feelings...but I did it. I need to run again to recover good sensations. Now, I have to sleep..my body is smart...and needs a break.

My mind is fresh..my body will be tomorrow. I have some goals on my way... 30 K in Ogden this weekend, Ogden Marathon, RATS Desert...

Es una maravilla poder correr por Utah. Desde Antilope Island, Moab o el Cañon de Wheeler, pasando por todos los Parques Naturales. Esta semana ha tocado Zion NP.
